Below is a guide to the different shades of 1934 LGS seals.

Shade #1



From October 1934 into December 1934, seals had a hint of olive to them.

Shade #2



For nearly all of 1935, and into early 1936, we had peak yellow green seals.



From about early to mid 1936, into mid 1937, the seals were yellow green, but the color had a hazy look.



From about July 1937, to the end of October 1937, seals were yellow green, but transitioning.

Below is an early vivid blue green seal from the Spring of 1938. Many would mistake it as LGS.

I’m not sure if it’s my eyes (or poor lighting on my phone), but I struggle to discern the subtle coloring differences. Not having any experience identifying LGS/DGS, I could see myself misidentifying seals - that 2005G* screams LGS to me!

Other than eyeballing coloring, are block/serial number ranges the ultimate “tell” when it comes to telling LGS from DGS?

Yes, the serial number ranges are a tell tale.

The other key (yow need great eyes for this) is that the F star has hints of yellow green, while the G star has hints of blue green.
